Pass Me Not And said, My lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant. —Genesis 18:3

Pass me not, O gentle Savior, Hear my humble cry; While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by. —Negro spirituals

As Christ moved from town to town, healing people physically, mentally, and physically, there was a nameless woman in the midst of it. As people pressed Jesus on all sides just to get closer to the Savior, she also pressed desperately in to get close to Him. She was weak from her illness but knew that if she could just touch Him, she would be healed. “I would be whole,” her inner voice proclaimed. As she was fighting to get closer to Jesus, she fell upon her knees and crawled through the crowd, and at last, she reached out and touched the bottom hem of His robe. She knew just a touch would be more than enough. What is more astonishing is that in the midst of the crowd, Christ turned and asked, “Who touched me?” He knew that the woman’s faith rendered healing beyond physical disability, but her soul had connected with the Savior’s heart. How He desires that we all would reach out and just touch the hem of His garment. He is not looking for perfection; He is looking for the teachable and willing that wants to be made perfect in Him.

Prayer Father, help me to look up and reach out, trusting that you are able to keep me, Lord. Proverb “Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place” (Zora Neale Hurston).
